    Heated grips...... at last :)

After 24 years of all year round riding I've finally fitted heated handlebar grips.
Why didn't I fit them before? My major gripe with winter riding was always cold hands, putting the gloves on the radiator at home to give them a bit of warmth at the beginning of the journey, using inner gloves making my gloved hands near enough immobile, handlebar muffs to obscure all the lighting controls and above 60mph being pushed so far back I couldn't get my hand around the front brake lever.

I remember one journey riding from Nottingham to Abingdon, leaving Nottingham in the snow, going down the M1 the weather cleared to a cold crispy winters day, the water on the front on my jacket started to freeze and my hands were agony. I stopped at Watford Gap services, struggled to get my gloves off, then putting my hands under the cold tap in the toilets to start the warming (thawing) process, this cold water felt warm, before standing there for a good 15 mins hogging the hand dryer.

...if only I had fitted heated grips, oh well.

Yes they are indeed a technological wonder of the modern age - it took me 31 years of winter misery before I gave in and converted to woosie grips - superb.
    2011 Triumph Tiger 800 - "Black Pussy" - MMMM Nice !!!
    2000 Suzuki DRZ400S - "Ol' Yella" - very bright
    2011 Peugeot V-Clic 50cc - "Scoot" - It's my wife's, an enjoyable ride.

    I have a house , but I can't guarantee it's safe !!

Yes indeed, essential with my memory, I wired them up direct to the battery as per Oxfords instructions but via a relay powered from the feed to the front brake light switch.

Even though it wasn't cold tonight, still had to have them on just for the novelty .....Ahh, hot hands in November

    Heated grips... Meh.

There was a set of daytonas on the bike when I bought it in march, but they didn't work. Which is understandable when all the wires are taped together in a bundle under the tank without actually being hooked up, heh.

Now it's getting cold, so I finally hooked them up last week. Warm-fingered bliss was my part. And guess what, the one on the right's broken already... Probably a short, because the left one gets quite hot no matter if it's set on high or low.

Yo Dudes, after all the publicity they've been getting, I'm about to order a set of Oxford heated grips off eBay. I'm a bit confused though...are there 2 diiferent sizes ? I've seen some quoted as 22mm, and others as 1" (which strictly speaking is 25.4 mm).

Can anyone tell me which I should buy for my 99 TA600 ?

    TIA,
    VSH

22mm are what you want with standard diameter bars.

You may actually see 7/8" advertised.......these will also fit standard bars.

1" are for Harleys and some of the Jappo factory customs.
