    Garmin Quest/Quest 2

Anyone got a Quest 2? I just bought one off ebay and it is slow, so slow, in fact, that I miss turns before it has redrawn the map. I just spoke to Garmin and they said - wait for it - yes it is slower than the original Garmin. How crap is that?
have you got a Quest 2 and is it as bad as mine or have I got a duff one?

I had heard a similar story. Effectively the Quest2 has the same processor as the Quest, but is asked to do a load more stuff, making it seem slower. It seems as if the multi-purpose GPS (walking & motoring) is a thing of the past. I doubt that Garmin will replace the Quest series. I expect they'll hope that people buy a eTrek and a Zumo.

Hmm I've just bought a Quest for sod all from gpsw to replace the huge lumbering brick that is the streetpilot 3... Blimey that thing's fast.

(Now to flog the old SP3... Secondhand prices are at or above what I paid for it last year and almost as much as I paid for the Quest, so heeeyyyyy. )

ive got a quest, had no probs with it. turn the sound off and go by the screen, by the time its said what its saying you go past the turning, in towns at least.
still think its good though, and can be had for a song if you find one out there

I got the original Quest and it seems OK to me - but then it doen't need to do much out here in the wilds of Kerry (not many roads....)!!! Want to get V9 installed on it, but Garmin want more than the things worth for the update so may possibly get something else...

The V9 maps make my quest take me on funny routes that all previous versions shunned.
Looks like I am going to try to get my original Quest repaired (currently held together with tape) and bin the Quest 2

Let us know how you get on with that, Garmin never even bothered to reply when I enquired about repairs. Good luck.

    Re: Garmin Quest/Quest 2

This just sent to Garmin (will report reply if I get one):
I dropped my Garmin Quest and broke it. Instead I bought a Garmin Quest 2. Trouble is it is so slow that I have missed turns before it has redrawn the map. I phoned to ask about this, expecting to be told that it was faulty but instead was told that was how it works - more slowly than the original Quest.
I'd be interested to hear you views in writing on this, because I think there is a Trading Standards issue here in that it is not fit for purpose.
Anyway, I asked about getting my Quest repaired as I cannot use the Quest 2. My email address taken but no form for completion has been sent to me. I've mentioned this on internet forums and Garmin's poor customer service is a re-occurring theme. Please prove the rumours wrong.

Well done Whealie - about time they got a bit of a wake up call..... probably won't bother them though, customer relations don't seem to be their strong point.

    Re: Garmin Quest/Quest 2

Hmm, Glad I came across this thread, I was thinking of upgrading my Quest for a Quest2, as I figured the original one was so handy, being compact/waterproof etc, the only downside being having to upload sections os maps every time I want to go somewhere (barely covers Ireland with it's tiny memory), this was of course addressed with the Quest2, I have never heard anyone complain that it was unusably slow, please keep us up to date on what the outcome of your complaint is.
