    Givi top box carrier rack.....?

Having purchased this fairly heavy tent from Nev....Berghaus Lomond Tent
I was actually thinking of fitting a carrier rack on top of my Givi top box.....any ssuggestions or reasons why it is a good idea or not a good idea pls...?
The tent is about 10Kg packed....
I looked into upgrading to a alu box but they are not cheap.....
Any word of advice or suggestions highly appreciated
    Grazie!

I fitted a rack to my 52 lt Givi, but only intended to fill it with light stuff.
They often quote about 10kg for the top box and you are putting another 10kg on top!
I wouldn't worry too much if you just use your top box for wet weather gear and light stuff.
I guess you're not going to know until something breaks!
I follow a simple rule with my luggage, I wouldn't have a full top box, or even top box if I was going off road. I feel that would put too much strain on the fittings.. But for road use....well..... never had a problem.

great thanks, I hardly go off road as, if I did, I would probably never come back in one piece.......normally, on longish journeys, the top box is filled with rainproof and a bag with clean clothes. By the look of it I have exactly the same top box as yours and I guess it would probably be ok to stick the rack on.....I hope.....as you say, if it doesn't break then it is probably ok....

This is the one I got. Expensive but heavy duty and impressed after our trip to Portugal.

Word of warning though, 10 kg that far back and that high up won't do much to improve your handling, expect the bike to turn into a bit of a camel.

The Givi one looks a bit wider, but there are still plenty of points on mine to attach bungees.

Thanks mate but with my body mass on the saddle, the camel won't wobble that much....
PS the problem will only arise if I travel two up.....if I am solo the tent is a fantastic back-rest!
