    12k Service.

Picked up my bike yesterday. The dealer I got it from said they did a 12k service on it. I have checked out their claims (never trust a dealer). They have appeared to have done oil/oil filter/plugs etc, chain tension etc etc.

However, not the air filter, which is dirty. I'll phone them tommorrow and have a whinge, but I need to be 100% sure that the Honda service schedule states that Air Filter replacement is part of 12,000 file service. (otherwise I will make a right **** of myself). I know the service schedule on the Tech Data page states this, but I need to have it from the official honda workshop manual.

Anyone have one? Can you check what the 12k service should consist of?

    Ta.

According to my handbook valve clearance, engine oil and oil filter should not have been touched on a 12,000 mile service. Tell them you want that knocked off the bill and see what they say.

Oh and spark plugs to be inspected not replaced.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

I do my airfilter every 8k miles irregardless of what the manual says. It's easy enough to undo 4 screws and replace the airfilter.

Service intervals are estimates for "average" use. Especially air filter changes are very dependent on how you use your bike, but if you say it's dirty then they clearly overlooked it, whatever the recommended interval might be. I use a K&N filter that I clean / oil once a year, regardless of mileage (no particular reason but easier to remember). I only use the bike on the road, not a lot of dust around here

    Dust anyone?
