Hmm electrics, my advice to you is to give up now before it's too late, ask Paul the Old (wait till he's in a good mood first)

    First up, read this article

Now - what you want to do is almost the same, but instead of 86 being connected to a wire that's only live when the ignition is on, you want it to be only live when the main beam is on.

It's easy to find a wire that's only on when the main beam is on - it's the wire that goes to the main beam filament of your existing headlights

87, which would normally go to the cig lighter power input, will now be the wire that you want to use to power your spotlights with.

Hi Stoo, Had a look at the thread , great. one question. I've already located the main beam wire so do I connect a separate wire to that and then take that back to the relay, then a live with inline fuse via the battery to the relay, then from the relay to the spots + every thing earthed ? I hope this is right... I'm hoping to do this some time tomorrow or on wed...Thanks

Yep - that sounds about the size of it.

If you get the same relay as was used in that article,

30 - inline fuse then to battery +ve terminal
85 - -ve terminal on battery (or earth via frame)
86 - existing main beam supply wire
87 - to +ve input for new spotlights
    87a - not required

    update

Hi, just an update, After trying to start the bike this morning (flat batt) and going out and spending £30 for a batt charger from Halfrauds and taxi back, taxi driver told me about Motorworld just round the corner. Lived in Bognor for over a year now and never knew it was there.
Got home, tried the bike, B******d thing started with quite a nice loud back fire. Went to M/World and found a Fastfit kit from RING £11.99. Totally chuffed cos its got every thing in I needed plus full fitting instuctions even i can follow.(no offence Stoo) Well chuffed I am :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P :P

So will be fitting them tomorrow

    pics...

I was toying with the idea of extra spot lights. Can you post a picture of the finished conversion? And a bit of a review... are you happy with the final effect, and how was the install with the kit?
    Cheers
