    Looking to buy Africa Twin

I am looking at the moment to buy a 2nd hand AT. My budget is 4000£ and i propably will buy from a dealer because i know nothing about engines and things. Just know how to ride the things(a bit). What should i be able to find for that sort of money?

HI Guys, thanks for the info. Ihave seen a black/silver? one for £3750 with 11800 miles on it. Going to have a look on Thursday. Anything i should keep in mind when i have a look at it. Remember ,i am pretty useless with regards to technical things. What sort of extras,if any, could i exspect. Oh, its a 2002 model [/img]

with that sort of mileage it isnt even run in yet butn to be cautious check for play in head races wheelbearings look at brakes check for scoring on disks warped etc. check tention of chain when on side stand it should be around 70mm listen for noise from the output shaft this can be damaged if the chain has been set to tight . i always tend to look at the engine oil as well to see how clean it is

good luck im sure you will get some more tips that ive missed as there are some more knowlegdable dudes than me here

Worrying comment there. If you can only just ride motorcycles "a bit", then maybe you should try some other type of bike, 'cause with its weight combined with its power it's not exactly a learner's bike. If that's the case, that you can only ride motorcycles "a bit", then maybe you should try something like this?

But if you're still serious about getting one, then to give you an idea about what you can get for 4 grand, look at it this way. I bought my almost mint 2003 @ with approx 2300 miles on the clock last May for exactly that, 4 grand! But that was private, so you should have to pay just a bit more from a dealer now.

Thanks for the Concern about my riding ability but the previous bike was a BMW1100RT.I think i should cope with the weight and size ok.
I just never would call myself a 'good' rider because one never stops learning.
I was all ecstatic about the bike i found but now it does not look so good a offer anymore
Thanks a lot for all your answers, they are all appreciated.Must say it seems a like nice bunch of people here.

If you let us know where you are... Maybe one of us could check the bike out for you.. Give you a second opinion?

    Just a thought?
