    Tyre advice

I'm going to Tunisia and do some amateur off-road there. But before that I have to do around 500km of Highway in each way. Can you advise me which tyres should I use.

I was looking at the tyre pool and decided to go for the Michelin T63. Wath do you think? Are they going to last 3000Km of Tunisian road and off road and 1000Km of Highway?

Isn't it better to tie a set of new, say, TKC80's to your luggage and do the 500 km of highway on your old tyres, then have them changed (or do it yourself) somewhere local?

500 km is just enough to take the new edge off of a knobby.

Hi, fit a set of TKC 80'S in the UK and they will see you there and back no problems, they are good both on and off road. My current set have done Maroc and back, via Spain and Portugal, the rear will do 6K miles approx before it starts to look iffy, depending on how you ride; the front twice that.

    Have a nice one.

    Thanks for your replays!

Today I checked out for the TKC80, but the problem is that I'm from Slovenija and our Continental dealer import only tires for cars and I'cant buy the TKC80 here.

I know the right person for Michelin tyres and I can get a good discount. So first I will try to find out a suitable Michelin tire if not, then I will go for another brand.

If someone has some experience with T63 or another brand......

    Thanks!

Try at Reiffen Wadel (or is it Wadel Reiffen ) in Klagenfurt - Austria. It is not so far away. They have all sorts of tyres and they are very helpful!

    You could try http://rodamoto.net

I'm now 500 miles into a set of TKCs ordered from them, and they appear to be fine.

They do mailorder with cash on delivery. I got a set of 90-90-21" and 120-90-17" for about 120 euro, delivered COD to my door, within a week.

A twin will probably need a size bigger than that (and possibly a higher speed rating as well, something I'm never too bothered about with the NX) but it should still be none too expensive.

I still haven't had to buy tyres yet for my bike but is this a really good price then? Whats the normal price for them?

If I buy a set of TKC80s locally at Ye Olde Tyre Shoppe I'm out 200+ euro at best. More like 250 if it's a motorcycle dealer. That includes fitting 'em though...
