How much is a 12000 mile service for a@

I am having a look at a @with 11000 miles on the clock on Thursday. Since she is at a dealership i wondered if i could get the 12k service included in the price. they want 3700 for her. What is best to maintain the chain? Scotoiler or is there something else and how much do these things cost? Could i get one of them in the deal or am i pushing it a bit?
Must say i really like the site and people, even i haven't got my @ yet! I was very surprized at how much help and info i did get here
    thanks a lot to everyone

You may or may not get the service done but these things are rarely thrown in. The dealer will always look to make the money back elsewhere and in this case by spending as little time as possible in servicing your new toy.

You are much better off just haggling for the best price you can get and use upcoming services, worn tyres, no tax etc as leverage. Once you have secured the best deal possible shop around for a service.

Remember, you rarely get something for nothing from a main dealer.

As for scottoilers, try and fit one yourself if you can. They are not that difficult if you take your time and give you some ideal find out where everything is/getting to know you time with your new bike.

Dealers fit them as fast as possible which usually results in a horrible cable tied mess with the resevoir fitted in a stupid impractical spot on the bike. If you do a search on here you will find a scottoiler with dual injector can be fitted in a few hours and remain almost invisible to the untrained eye.

And if you do get the service thrown in do another search or post question as to what work should be done as part of that service - you'll get an idea of the work involved and what to expect to see on the paperwork at the dealers post service

As for chain lubing. I had good results from a Scottoiler on my last AT but filling the resevoir under the seat was a bit of a pain. I havent bothered this time coz I use a small oil can refilled with 80/90 gear oil (£7 for 5 litres!! from Screwfix). When I get home I pop it on the stand and squirt a little oil on it with the bike in first gear. Keeps it nice and clean just like the Scottoiler. I don't get too much fling either. I think the 5 litres will last the life of the bike (Cheapskate I hear you cry) so this is definately the bargain option. If I go away I use Wurth wax spray lube which does a good job with no fling.

there's a service schedule in the 'tech data' section above!!
i have just taken mine in for a service and not having a proper service book asked them to fill in one of those sheets - looked at me like i was daft but then grinned and agreed to stamp it and tick the work done!

You can ask them and check off the stuff they will do against that list

i figure at least i will have some history, if nothing else just for my own records cos let's be fair why would you want to get rid of one of these things??

now i need a folder to put 'em in . . . am i starting to sound organised????
