    Tripometer shows 88 88 88 88 88 88

    All the 8's

Did it the morning, when I started the bike to go to work. Is this a normal occurance? Is there a easy way to reset it?

Disconnect the battery, leave for about 30 seconds then reconnect, that should reset the tripmeter

That's your bike ruined now, sell it to me for a pittance.

1 Varadero/34,000 miles ridden (of 57,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

Is this a regular occurance? If so, will pull the thing off, and put a GPS there...

Git, coffee all over desk now...

It sounds like a built in self test mode that's got stuck on, I'd pull the fuse out or disconnect the battery.

Don't worry, it's only happened to me once in 6 years and you only hear about it occasionally on here. It's just a little nugget of info (how to cure it)to store away for when someone asks you next year when it happens to them.
