    Poor throttle response?

Now this could just be me, but...

When your giving the bike some serious stick, i.e. Changing at the redline through the gears and you give it full throttle (and I mean full so there's no more twist on the grip), the bike seems to be over fuelled for a second or two.

Now this is a bit alarming when your trying to overtake and want to get shifting asap!

Is this a case of poor carb setup (it seems ok at any other time and runs quite smoothly) or is it a limitation of the bike?

Does the @ have a rev limiter?, this might cause the same effect, perhaps someone could let us know.

I have noticed that as well. I thought it was my poor fuel pump but can still reproduce it with the new one on. Only seems to happen if you really open the throttle fully in a single immediate movement. I don't think it's a defect or an AT-only issue, I have had fuel injected bikes respond even worse on this kind of abuse. The slightest moderation in opening the throttle seems enough to prevent it. (If not, maybe check choke, carb inlet rubbers and vacuum seals).

Isn't this one of the running diferences between carbs with diaphrams and the sort that racers have with the cable going straight into the top whos name I can't remember?
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

Drill some holes in your airbox like this  http://www.universal.nl/users/Africa_twin/0000201E.HTM

My 98 didn't like those holes at all. Straight wind appeared to mess carburation similarly to loose airbox collars.

I think the slide lift hole mod is good though. Sharpened throttle response noticeably. I installed some larger main jets at the same and have been a happy biker ever since.

Did you find having the Laser ProDuro can on effects the engine running? Its just that it just got one of them at the weekend.
