If you have replaced your fuel pump - did you have any running issues at all before it packed up?

No. In my case it just stopped running with no warning.
I was sure my fuel consumption and power was affected but ever so slightly and it could of been other factors such as dirty airfilter etc etc also. Mine also worked the one moment and died the nextHappy to confirm [touch wood] the pierburg is still running fine after 12k miles without any additional relays etc[/touch wood]

My first stopped dead, my second played up intermit..inter... ran oddly before going, my 3rd (vacuum type) also played up before I replaced it. 40,000ish miles seemed to be the time they started to die.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.
1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!
Mine started to play-up intermittently. I discovered I could revive it by knocking on it with a blunt object: I have been driving with a socket on my finger so I could do it while riding. I have always favoured cave-man technology![]()
While I was waiting fot the delivery of my Pierburg replacement it seemed to be running fine again but I'd lost faith in it.
Not sure though if all OE (Mitsubishi) pumps die in the same way![]()
I had a flatspot on acceleration after shutting the throttle - not sure if it was related to the pump, but it appears to have disappeared now I've fitted the Facet. I also changed the front coil though, so it could have been that.

Humph. Maybe my carbs need balancing then or something. Bike coughs every now and then and just doesn't sound right.

Replaced 2 pumps - first one went after a couple of weeks of a very occasional misfire at 6000rpm in top gear. Seemed odd at the time as the bike had never missed a beat. Eventually stopped completely and then had sixty miles of riding very slow and then stopping, waiting for pump to cool down then running for another 6 or 7 miles.
Second one just gave up with no warning at all - by then I had sorted Plan B - bypass the pump and fill the tank to the top. Gravity feed for about 100 miles or refill after 70-80 miles.
