    Side Stand Strength

Is the stand strong enough to hold both myself and the bike? For example, when getting on it, rather than swinging my leg straight over (My foot just seems to catch the tail pack everytime!)

I have noticed quite a few posts on some forums saying about puting the AT on the side stand when roping down on a ferry and that had me also wondering is it really man enough????

Yes it will. The only easy way to get on and off with my alu boxes is to use the side stand and it works fine - that's about 14 stone plus two 40 litre alu boxes and a top box, plus an RD04, which is 210Kg dry - add to that about 23 litres of fuel and you are talking a sidestand that can hold a fair bit of weight.

    Cool

I somehow managed to bend the side stand mounting area on my DT50, and I'd always gotten on that the 'normal' way - obviously I'm a bit more worried about damaging the AT!

I am around 13 stone too. Unfortunately, the technical name for it is 14 stone, but I think I prefer "around 13".

I stopped looking when those kind of numbers appeared, unfortunately the waistband of my trousers insists on reminding me every morning

can i be the first of the taller riders to say...

"i can just swing my leg over even with the top box on"

sorry - thats enough smugness for one day!

on the strength of the side stand - i'm guessing they must have been over engineered as the AT didn't come with a centre stand did it? and nice mr honda must've known that folks would be piling all kinds of panniers on them and tank bags and full of fuel - so i figure they were made to take a bit of weight!
