    Or £7.95 from HondaSpares.com.

I wonder what quality you can expect though, compared to the usual Honda OE standards ...

    ah well, never mind hey?

On a slighltly more serious note: Does the Honda one come complete with the bits that sit inside the carb (spring/plunger thingies)?

If it's Honda standard its going back, the web site says they sell quality parts!

And sadly no, the Honda one doesn't include the plunger, spring, plastic nut thingy and "elbow" bit. They come as a kit.

    Looking at it in detail:

At the top end (by the lever), the cable doesn't have the rubber bit over the end of the sleeve. It's just the normal type of end you get on a cable sleeve. This may let more water in and mean it fails faster?

At the choke plunger end, one of the nipples was a messy moulding with lots of flash (but easy and quick to clean), and the other was not moulded correctly - there was about 4/5 of a nipple there. I'm fairly sure it'll work fine for this application, but it doesn't fill you with confidence.

The tension adjustment, about 5" from the top (lever) end, should be covered by rubber sleeves on either side. One of these has split. I'll be gaffer taping this.

The plastic splitter box thingy isn't as chunky as the Honda one, and the rubber cap on the top is a bit less convincing. But the Honda one is useless and fills with water anyway, so I don't see how the pattern one can actually perform worse. It'll get mummified in gaffer tape anyway!

Conclusion: don't fit one before taking off round the work, but at 20% of the Honda price it's probably worth it. You can throw it away and put a new one on once a year when you strip and clean the choke, and still be financially ahead!
