She's gone
Just a few minutes ago I saw my ol faithful Africa Twin driving away, looking at me out of the back window of an estate car.
This bike which I bought new in March 2000, has faithfully transported me back and forth to London every day, been green-laned, taken to rallies, taken me on holidays to France, Spain, Portugal and Morocco, been ridden on motorways, gravel tracks, across sand dunes, along streams, over ice covered mountain roads and worst/most scary of all, along the poxy Thames Embankment to a meet at Chelsea Bridge.
Stripped of her clothing, wheels, electrics, controls and with her forks removed, she was laid on her side in the back of the car after 130,000 miles of, very nearly, faultless service and sent away to Southampton, hopefully to be reborn as part of a rebuild.
And do you know what I thought as it was laid on it's side......That's the first time I've ever dropped the bloody thing

3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.
1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!
