    Repairs On My AT

It's been in my uncle's garage for the past 12 months and was last used about 10 months ago.
Consequently, it needed a few things fixing on it, so i took it to be fixed last weekend.
I received a phone call before, saying the cost of repair will be £1017.96.
It also needs a full service and MOT
Then comes the joy of insuring it
It's a good job that i'm selling my nifty fifty

Of those, surely only the weird thing with the brakes can have suddenly sprung up in the garage while being stored...

Anyhoo I take it you don't fancy doing even any of the lighter stuff yourself?

    I haven't got a clue about mechanics
I can change a spark plug, oil and coolant, clean the bike and put petrol in it. Oh, and i can put air in the tyres
I only got my first bike last july, so i haven't really had chance to master the mechanical side of things.

Bloody hell, how many miles on the clock?

Camchain replacement cost me about £200 including the chains (they were about £25 each), the tensioner was just reset back to it's starting position.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

HIGHLY SUSPECT THIS, SMELLS OF A RIP OFF.

i WOULD GO TO AT LEAST 2 OTHER PLACES FOR A QUOTE.

What does your uncle say, was it making a cam chain noise (sounds like chains that are loose slapping about inside the engine) was the clutch slipping when he last used it?. Had the REG/RECT destoyed the battery?, and were the brakes OK when he last used it.

I would get some fresh fuel in it and a new battery and start it up then check for yourself or get a knowledgable mate

It really does not sound right to me at all. very fishy.

    Your INCOMING baby is fabulous.
