    Honda/Hepco & Becker Panniers. Help

Hi Guys I am swapping my Givi PL racks for some recently aquired genuine Honda panniers and racks ( which I believe are the same as the Hepco & Becker Juniors ) question is , does anyone have the same gear fitted ?
If so could you please post some pictures of how the racks fit cos at the moment I can't make head nor tail of the b****y things.
Would really appreciate some help and I've never seen this site beat yet when help is needed.
    Cheers Guys, Kerbs

I have H&B explorer panniers to fit my AT I do know that I needed a bracket to fit with the SW motech racks so it might be the case with your cases (ahem...)
    I'm going on a trip!

Yes I successfully fitted HB panniers and top box last month, for piccies go back to thread I posted already. I think its http://www.xrv.org.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4753
Only problem I had was the instructions were in German! Luckily I have a german mate, who specialises in big bike mechanics, 100kms away, so he at least helped me through the process! Good luck!

Thanks for your help lads. Blind Pugh has e-mailed me some really good pictures of his frames and it looks as though the ones I have are for a different model. So i'm seriously peeved at the moment.

Kerbs: Is your AT RD04 or RD07? I've just fitted H&B's racks to my RD04 and i can take some pics if needed.

Installation was really ****ty job due to big tolerances of the bendings etc.

Here is one poor pic unfitted racks http://munhiekkis.fi/wp-content/uplo.../06/setti1.jpg , but if those looks familiar i'll take more pics. If you don't have any u-shaped bar, then you don't have RD04's rack which have 2pcs u-bars.

RD07's original Honda-rack seems to be symmetrical and leaves boxes very high above the exhaust...:

...and so does H&B's rack too http://www.hepco-becker.de/anbauanle...50147.0001.pdf

    They could be the same...

    Hi Guys
Thanks for your postings, problem is I am becoming even more confused.
I have taken some pics and will try and post them here. The first one is the complete set.

This is the right side front mounting.

    frames complete from the rear

    frames complete from left side

The front mountings have a large lug with a shouldered bolt fitted through a rubber bush, these do not seem compatable with the AT pillion footrest mounts, the top bar at the rear has nowhere to attach to however the lower rear bar looks as if it will mount to the extreme rear of the frame.
If anyone has any idea what they will fit please let me know.

    Kerbs,
Sorry for late reply, have been trying for 3 days to log into the site to try to help you. (Am sitting on a drilling rig in the South China Sea off Vietnam, our internet system is cr@p).
OK, the front mounting is slightly different to mine. I was supplied with washers that are used as spacers between the swing arm and the pillion foot pegs, which have to be removed first, obviously. There was a "bit" that had to be removed on mine as well, (I think it was a grab handle or foot/chain protector, left hand side). I used the original footpeg bolts, to attach it, not those supplied.
Middle mounts, take your seat off and there should be a mounting position somewhere under the seat. Use the original bolts on the bike too, if there are.
Tail mount, correct, this fits onto the two bolts that hold your mud guard on, I think, again use the original mounting bolts too.
There should be spring washers in the kit for the rack, use them liberally.
Another piece of wisdom learned from this exercise, fit each piece separately and loosely, then join them all up, then tighten. Someone to assist you who can read German would also be a help, but if you haven't, don't worry!
Hope you "get it on" successfully, mate.
    Cheers

Thanks for the help Doglegdon. You have helped me to come to the conclusion that my frames are not for the AT. Three reasons for that , 1 the forward mounts are impossible to fit on the pillion footrest mounts, 2 the upper rear cross bracing bar does not go near the bike frame at any point and the mounting holes are upright and not flat for mounting between carrier and frame, 3 If you look at my picture from the rear you can see there is no offset for the exhaust.
All of which goes to prove be careful when buying off e-bay. So often what looks a reasonable deal can end up being a pain in the arse.
Annoying really as they were sold as having been removed from a late model AT and unused, in fact neither seems to be the case.
Thanks to you and indeed everyone who took the trouble to help. What an absolutely great site this is.
