    Noobie in france

    Bonjour,

    Just a wee introduction

    1st : Love the site
2nd : But not as much as the @T that I have just picked up.

Had several bikes on and off throughout the years

    XL 125
    Husky 250 - Scrambler
    GT 250
    GPZ 550
    DR 650
    CBR 1000

and now I have finaly bought the bike I wanted rather than the one I could afford, here she is, she's called "Max"

Here are some high res pics

The paniers are hand made, not by me though, I like the idea that they are black.

The original owner lowered the bike by 3cm (Rear End) and by 1 cm ( Saddle, which suits my 1m76, he was only 1m73.

The bike is in excellent condition ( 2001 ), heated grips, Alarm, Scottoiler with Rain guage, Cigarette lighter outlet, top case, paniers, tank bag and tank cover. I dont have to spend a penny to equip her with whatsover.

Only one problem the bloody trip master doesn't work, clock does, but not the trip counter. ( I'll head off to the techies forum for help ).

Bought the bike on Saturday and have done 700 Kms since, I just love it.
Heaps of torque, excellent view, Ok in trafic, found the CBR1000 more comfortable though.
Tried riding up a mountain dirt road, no problems, tried coming back down and almost sh*t myself. This mother is one heavy beast, it will take me a while to get used to off road stuff ( I am running on Anakees, so the off road stuff is a bit off limits for the moment).

It's unusual on the motorway's; I get the impression that it suffers from the turbulence created by other vehicules but maybe that is due to the high windshield. Other than that sits fine at the 120 Kms marque with loads of throttle to go.

I left Scotland 20 years ago, been in France for the last 12 and will definately never go back to living in Scotland. I have come to hate the wet climate, although I do miss the pubs
I will try to come and do an @T tour though.

    Cheers Roy

Welcome... let us know where you are and we can all pop-in on our way through.

If you ride off road get yourself some TKC80's, IMHO they are the dogs on and off-road. Trouble is they wear out too quickly for me. Bah.

Welcome Roy and it's a very nice bike you have there. The AT's handling takes a bit of getting used to, but you'll soon learn that the vague feeling at speed is nothing to be worried about. It's probably worth trying the original screen though since you're shorter than some of us.
