    Chain and Sprockets

It's time to replace the chain and sprockets on my 2002 RD07a. I don't want to skimp on the quality of the bits, so I was thinking of going for a DID chain and JT sprockets. To be fair I originally wanted to fit Honda parts, but the cost of front (£23) and rear (£70) sprockets scared the bejesus out of me!

Having checked on the M&P website, the whole lot comes to:

    Chain: DID 525VMx124 - £70.00
    Front: JTF 314.16 - £15.00
    Rear: JTR 1332.45 - £15.75
    P&P: Standard - £4.99

    Total: £106

But, before I place my order in the morning I thought I'd see if anyone has had bad experiences with either DID, JT or M&P. Or is there another supplier out there that can provide my bits even cheaper.

    What do you reckon?

ive always used DID chains top quality jt sprockets are fine to but stick to the OE front sprocket its a bit more pricey but its the proper job .
if you do it will look like its not seeting properly on the front sprocket

just fit it then run it in for about 10 mile then check and re adjust the chain. you will then find the chain seeted nicely around the front sprocket on the rubber cush either side of the sprocket

i did this with mine and double checked it all just before i sold it and all was well . are you going for the gold xring ? pricey but worth it in the long run

This is the kind of comment I was looking for. Are JT sprockets not up to the job? Why use the Honda one instead? How much difference does the rubber on the Honda sprocket make? If it's so good, why don't the pattern sprockets have it as well?

    Thanks for the input Chad.

when i changed mine it had a jt sprocket on after removal i noticed very slight wear on the output shaft .the honda sprocket seemed to fit more snug and i think that the rubber cush helps to keep the sprocket in line to cut down any laterall movement , these were my findings and i felt much happier that i had the right kit on the bike

Have a look here for a fairly lengthy discussion on the Honda OEM front sprocket http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...front+sprocket

I am with Chad on the front sprocket thing - saving a couple of quid for front sprocket is not worth it. I went with the OE chain and spocket last week - price seemed reasonable to me ( but then I can get 40K miles out of chain and sprockets). If I still had the Dominator I would be probably buying chain in bulk as it seemed to have a real appetite for it!
