    Pity for the new guy....please?

    Lo everybody...

Been watching the forum for a while, I,m looking for a new bike (currently ride a daytona...which is bloody crippling me!!), Got the chance of a 51 plate AT, 16500 miles, immaculate condition (road use only), heated grips, Touratech screen extension thingy (Soz...new to these kind of add ons), engine bars, givi luggage....all for 4k and a three month warranty from Wylie & Holland in Telford (Test Ride tommorow!!!!)

does anybody have any advice on the deal?

Now I commute a round trip of 100 miles a day, this will be my only form of transport...but i fancy doing some greenlaning to start with...

excellent choice of bike but get the price down a bit. i spent under 4k for a 52 plate from a dealer with warranty etc and i payed a little more than i should. i just started green laning mine, dont get me wrong there not a 125 off road but i had no problem with size and i aint been off road since my teens.

i love em cause they are an all in one bike, fun on the road, fun offroad, plenty of size to do miles on and honda reliability and cheap to look after.

i went from a group 15 insurance on my buell to a 12 on the AT and saved myself £100 a year insurance.

    ticked all my boxes, enjoy

yeah, get the price down and the warrenty up, try for six months and tell them three months doen't inspire a great deal of confidence.
I do a 70 mile round trip on an '88 650cc and it's fine, i only do summers, gave up all that wet stuff long ago.
you may want to hold some cash back for a nice (less plank like) seat, do a search above to find the options.
Check out the prices in UBG or Parkers and waft these under their nose along with any ads you can find in ebay, etc, be prepared to walk away (you can always go back again later if you really want it) there's nothing like a punter leaving a shop to get a discounted price

I know W&H in Telford quite well, although I've never bought a bike from them. Given the bike has heated grips, engine bars and luggage, there's no too much else you'll want to do to it. So personally I wouldn't feel too bad about paying £4k for it. Obviously have a go at bringing the price down and the warranty up, but imho you're not being taken for a ride on the deal.

If you're considering both commuting and green laning then you'll be needing some TKC80 tyres (see if W&H will throw a set into the deal?). Shropshire and the Welsh borders have some excellent green lanes, so when you're sorted drop me a PM and I'll show you around.

It's not the age, it's the mileage...

Have you been for your test ride yet?

    What do you reckon?

Sorry, I think Ian may be right 4k doesn't sound too much if it's in really good nick, there may be cheaper ones about, but you know condition is much more important than age, well that's my excuse anyway
