    starter relay RD07

on my way to airport the other day when bike misfired,backfired.....and stopped!
on inspection found that the relay(first one after battery)had suffered considerable meltdown(literally)presumably due to it shorting out.
had no choice but to be towed to nearest garage(which happened to be honda)and missed my flight, condemned to buying a rather more costly ticket later on...
haven't had time to check this out yet,but mechanic told me the part may not be available "on its own" and that the whole circuit may need replacing...can somebody please tell me this isn't true!....and if it is,can i just replace with a relay not from honda?
having been bled dry for new airline ticket am not savouring the cost of a rewire at official dealers...HELP!

I replaced the starter solenoid on my AT (97 RD07a) when it started to get a bit sticky (occasionally the bike would not crank over on the button).

The cost of a new part is £39 from David Silver and is a 5 minute job to change (easy DIY job).

If it has melted the connector on the main loom (like my RD03 did) you'll probably have to bodge it with spade connectors.
