    Fitting CentreStand

Well got my Honda centrestand kit today (thanks Harvo), so decided to fit it tonight. Got it all fitted, darn those sprints are a bitch to fit!!!

The destructions said I needed to remove the exhaust, but than involved removing the SW-Motch crashbars, as it is, removing the exhaust engine bolts, and exchaus tail bolts gives you enough clearence (just) to get the pins in.

Anyway, got a couple of questions to anyone thats fitted one.

1/ The top mounting bracket that the springs hook onto seems a bit odd, it just sits on that peg behind the chain rubber pad, it does it fit on there very well, not does it seem to have anything to secure it particularly well. Anyone else notice this?

2/There is a bracket which goes behind the rear footpeg mount. Can't see the point of it, anyone bothered fitting it?

3/ Anyone take the side stand off, and rely soley on the centrestand? I have no trouble getting the bike on the stand, so wondered if I actually need the side stand?

Can only answer two and three.

    2) Little bracket is probably a handle to help lift it onto the stand with.

    3) Sidestand much better on uneven terrain/soft ground. Best to leave it on.

    HTH, dan.

    1. The spring mount bracket is a fairly loose fit on the pin - Had centre stand on bike for 8 years and never had a problem with this.

    2. The lifting handle is useful if you do not have pannier frames fitted. I only put it on if the bike does not have a tubular luggage frame which gives you lots of options to grab hold of something.

    3. Centre stand does not work well on soft ground or sand - unless you take a couple of beer cans to crush or a plank to spread the load.
