    New member intro

    Hi,

    Just discovered your forum.

I'm a Transalp owner, 55 years old, living in California and have been riding since 1968. Motocross for 4 seasons, enduros for 2 and now just out to see the sights.

I'm always looking for an Africa Twin but they are quite rare in this contry and even more difficult to register in this state.

I'm serioiusly considering adding a RD03/04 tanks, fairing side panels etc to my Transalp and upgrade the suspension....building my own Africa Twin as it were.

    Thanks for letting me participate.

    Ray

    Welcome to the site Ray

You know, someone over here could make a fortune if they filled an iso-container with AT's and imported them over there.

    finding an AT

Try having a look at www.horizonsunlimited.com and ask Grant and Susan Johnson if anyone is touring California way on an AT and willing to sell, or ask Kevin or Julia Sanders at www.globebusters.com.

The latter airfreight around 10 bikes a year for transamerican trips passing through The Grand Canyon, a mere 600 miles or so away from you. Although mainly BMWs, you never know, and they might crate up an AT and deal with all the import paperwork for a fee. You might have problems with emissions spec though.

    Hey Ray!!

    Welcome to the forum.

You should seriously consider (if you haven't already) looking up posts and contacting modrover who is your side of the pond, and very up on TA's, AT's. and modifying both.

Hi ladder! California, uh? You lucky f$$k! Man, I'd trade my bike for living in California any day! It's crazy that the @ wasn't sold in the States, 'cause it was perfect for your country, especially for the Californian beaches! An @ and Redondo beach...a match made in heaven!
