    Standard Exhaust

Will a year 2000 standard exhaust fit on my 1990 RDO4?

From what I remember, no. The brackets are in a different place, I recall fitting my Lazer produro to the first RD07 I had and I had to move the bracket and polish out the mark left from the RD04 fitment.

I'm not certain though maybe someone could prove me wrong

I think Africajim is correct, the workshop manual shows two different silencers with totally different mounting brackets.

    Thanks for your assistance guys-

I thought needed a new exhaust to replace my standard one on my RD04 which has some surface rust. There was a standard exhaust on ebay for an RD07 but it sold last night, so I 'treated' mine to a coat of exhaust paint. Nice!

I already had to do some work to make RD04 headers fit on my RD07 (the pipe goes backward a bit further, I suspect the 04 has a longer wheelbase?). I was still using the RD07 silencer, I shortened the header-pipe a bit and drilled new holes in the exhaust bracket. I am not sure how much margin you would have to make a RD07 silencer fit on a "4" but don't expect a straight fit, esp since the bracket on the silencer is welded on and not a movable clamp like on most after-market silencers.

This statement probably goes against all general beliefs in bike-land, but OE pipes are usually hard to beat when it comes to power-delivery (even some of the louder ones ), also the high weight of the silencer has no noticeable effect on the handling of the bike. In other words, it is worth to give an OE pipe a go. You could borrow my old RD07 silencer to look at if you want, however like I said that has already been slightly modified. I live near Gloucester, just drop me a PM if you are interested.

I have swapped between the OE and Laser Produro twice after fitting latter. I would love to have the OE for it's quietness, but big increase in low end grunt with Laser is just too addictive. With OE the power delivery is much more peaky, which may actually be a bonus depending on how you ride. The engine starts all of the sudden to pull strongly from around 4k rpm with the Honda can, whereas with Laser there is no real feel of "yee hah" at that stage. With laser the torque is always there from idle.
