    DIY help needed

This might sound a little stupid, but I need a bit of advice...
I've been trying to mount a set of Acerbis handlebar guards and I need to remove the anti vibration weights at the end of the bars.
They come off by simply removing a screw, but the insert inside the bar will not come out.
By peeling back the rubber grip I have seen that there are two small diametrically opposed holes almost at the end of the bars; it seems there are two little bits of metal preventing the insert from sliding out.
I've tried to press them in and pulling the insert at the same time but it won't come out...
    Anybody done this already?
I can't stand having those Acerbis guards on the shelf and not on my AT!

    Breeze,

I couldn't get them out either, so all I did was put the originals back on!

So, fit the acrebis handguards, and instead of using the bolts that come with them, just thread the originals in and do them up tight. I've had no problems in the 6 months they've been on the bike

From Memory (which should not be relied on after consumption of Caffrey's) there is a little hole towards the end of the handlebar and inside here is either a pin or a grubscrew , so you either unscrew it or drill it out then you can pull out the end weight, or I could be completly wrong, in which case it probably came out with a hammer

p.s. if you pay my air fare I am more than happy to come out and remove these for you (have hammer will travel)

Hmmm... looks like I'll be following Cie's advice, Dilbert's air ticket could be slighlty less convenient!
    Thanks to both...

Here's a reply I gave last year to the same question, I just dug it out of my old posts, this may or may not be of help?

    Goldiefish
here's what came out of mine, it's 145mm long and weighs 200 grams

It's a carbon steel bar turned down at each end, there is a moulded rubber attached at each end and it is this that grips the inside of the handlebar tube, bear in mind that mine is an '88 650cc so later models may be slightly different.
When you look in the end of the tube all you can see is the domed end of the steel bar and a black soft something, if you can get something in behind the domed end (screwdriver, electrical wire stripper pliers, etc) it should just lever/ pull out.
Tap it slightly first to break the set in the rubber and it's friction grip, squirt in some WD40 and lever away.
I suggest prodding the black soft something to make sure it is rubber like mine, or I might just be talking b*ll*cks again!

and here's a link to that article

In the end it looks like I just levered mine out?

As we are speaking of weights, they are supossed to reduce vibrations, or em I wrong? If so, does anyone of you who have removed them feel the difference in vibrations?

yes they are supposed to reduce vibration, but I haven't noticed any difference, mine's an RD03 though so the 750 may be different, I don't get vibes through the handlebars, but plenty through the footpegs

While changing my grips the other day, the weights in the bars simply fell out!!!! I filled the bars up with lead pellets from a air rifle like I have done so many times over the years and it has NO viberation now !!!!!!!
