    Honda XLV750r

    Hello there...

New to this forum because I've just become the proud new owner of 1985 XLV750r. I know this is not an Africa Twin, nor a Transalp and even less of a Varadero but surely as a blood-related old cousin, I might find some like-minded souls here.

Anyway, I wondered if anybody out here had owned one of those, what to look for, what advice to get and where to get parts and accesssories. Failing that, we can always chat about bikes.

    Thanks.

Hi and welcome - good choice of bike (i think), dont know a great deal about them, except they look cool

heres a link to a French site i found on this model

    http://xlv750r.site.voila.fr/

I have previously seen a website from a German bloke who restores them, and he came over to the uk and toured from London to Scotland and back to Germany, so the bike is capable.

If you do a good search in google, you should be able to find quite a bit of info - although you may find it is mostly non English

    Good luck.

Welcome to the site, I think I was looking at your new bike on Ebay this week trying to convince Mr Mabel that we did really really need another bike.

    Thanks Mabel and Anton.

Mabel, you probably did look at mine as there hasn't been another one on Ebay or anywhere else for that matter in ages. There currently is one on sale on the gs forum for £1400-£1600 so I think I got myself a bargain at £900. Picking it up this Thursday from Preston so I suppose the ride back should give me a clue as to what the bike is like. I always wanted an Africa Twin but can't yet justify the purchase price-wise as I already have a VFR750 (95) and CB700sc Nighthawk (86). I also reckon the XLV is quite an interesting bike to own.

Anton, I have scoured the internet and found quite a bit of info on the bike. Australians, Frenchies and Italians have quite a bit of info on them. Being French myself, language isn't much of an issue. I wondered though if the bike ever was available here as a full UK spec bike. Mine is Italian I think originally.

Does anybody know how I can add pictures?

They are nice in HRC colours (R-Ds). Glad to see it's looking so good over 20 years and 88,000kms later.
