    My RD04 mods - so far !

some pics to whet your appetites

New IMS footpegs fitted - thanks to Jim Rowley

Yamaha R6 link pipe - 'cut and shut' to fit (stainless steel - cut mig welded and ground down). Just needs polishing up.

Bluflame R6 end can - fits a treat, lighter than standard but fookin loud

New seat cover made by a car trimming place in Colchester, recommended

CR 500 rear mudguard fitted in place of plastic box made by Mr Honda

LED rear stop and tail light - replaces the rather large original.

Spent saturday cutting, welding (praise the Lord for mig welders ) and grinding the exhaust. Just got the seat back this afternoon and am well chuffed.

Cost of bits so far -
    Footpegs $57
Exhaust and link pipe £60 off e-bay
    Seat re-covered £45
    CR mudguard £10
    New led rear light £10

    Nice one Anton,

I am expecting my pegs soon and should have a Remus can on the way.

btw........your frame is a strange colour, I don't think I've seen one like that before.

Cheers Bob - you'll love the new pegs - the quality is fantastic.

Yes, the frame is a strange colour

I saw this bike like buying an old house - can see the potential in her

It wasnt Redcap - the last owner, but the guy before him who stripped the bike and had the frame powder coated that nice shade of blue Not the best choice of colour. Plus theres various bolts missing and i'd be happier knowing everything is where it should be.

But i will be stripping the bike right back down again - wheels to be done black with gold hubs, frame to be re-coated black + various other parts.

Am planning to get the bodypanels sprayed up in an XR red, and adding my own persoanl touch here and there.

Before you do that, can we chat. I have a full set of RD04 brand new body panels plus the ones on my bike but as I wasn't planning on a full re-spray (although now you mention it, maybe I should) so if your panels are in the same livery as my bike perhaps I could have the ones in the right colours and you could have the unpainted one for spraying?

Oh Poo ! I was planning on black anodised rims. I hope you don't think I'm copying

and the seat looks ace......not planning to go with that colour myself.

    Looking good Anton!

I must admit, I was planning on the black rims with gold hubs too
I like the LED rear light too, the standard one is a little on the large side!

Good luck with the rest of the rebuild.

    Cheers

No worries peeps, black is the new gold plus you can leave them longer before you have to wash them

If people get inspired by my mods, thats cool. I dont see it as copying.

I've got my ideas from other peoples bikes - and not just @'s. But mainly from our European brothers - i just love the look of the Afreican Queens modded bikes - thats ultimately what i'm aiming for, but where i can i'll try to save a bit of money (e'g £60 exhaust off e-bay).

But before you all go out splashing cash here and there - ALWAYS check out e-bay first, if you know what your looking for, theres some great things to be had.

I'm a bit brave with some of the stuff - having to cut and weld etc, especially the new rear mudguard - had to use a dremel to make holes so the rear rack can still fit - and obvioulsy only get one chance to not **** it up

But for me this has become part of the fun - i like making my bikes how I want them.

If any of you have any ideas/questions on stuff your not sure about - just ask me and i'll try my best to help.

    Ant
