    Centre Stand?

I know this has probably been posted before, but what the hell is the technique to get the AT on it's stand?

I had mine fitted yesterday, got sworn at by the mechanic when I picked it up, took it home and have decided it's a pig to use!

Who else has pearls of wisdom to make it easier, brute force and ignorance are working but surely there must be a better way?

Used to have:RD07, 2001, Touratech Panniers, Nonfango topbox, baglux tank harness, Scott Oiler

I find the centre stand V eazy to use but I'm 6'02" and 15stone! & over 50yrs with a bad back!

    1. leave side stand down and stand that side of the bike ( its for your safety if all goes wrong)

2.left hand on left bar, right hand on lift lever ( or pannier rail if thats what you have got.)

    3. left foot central and bike balance so it leans very slightly into you.

4.right foot ( booted) on end of centre stand held down on floor.

LEAVE YOUR FOOT IN PLACE (pushing down as you lift)

    5. lift up and back in one movement.

If you have panniers fitted your right knee will lean into the pannier face and assist you here.

    6. stand back and book appointment with GP for the Hernia!

No its not brute force its leverage and balance

But if you are 5'02" use the side stand.
    & buy a £20 paddock stand.

    Good luck

Hmmm.. don't think height and definitely not weight being problems here, will have a play later though.

Did leave the side stand down though, figured I'd play it safe.

Its a definite aquired skill for sure.

Once you've strained too much and followed through a few times it'll come naturally to you!

I was thinking that too when i eventually get round to buying one.

another thing is some members have had problems that when bringing it down off the stand it has fallen away from them and dropped. Someone suggested turning the bars to face the right as this will throw the weight to the left which is the side of the side stand and probably the side the person is on

never had that - just the age-old problem of getting it up!

Don't forget to slip it into neutral before puting it on the centre stand. I rarely ever use the side stand in my garage and I find it dead easy to use the centre stand.
If you are concerned with it running away from you when puting the stand down, slip it into 1st gear prior to pushing it forward. It's a case of trial and error

    hope this helps

I got a tip today, when I got my new @ ... sorry just had to mention it... behind the rear left footpeg (for the pillion) there should be a rounded rectangle shaped handle ...

I think this is what is refered to as the lift lever by magwa

I missed out on this bit before and never once managed using the pillion grab handles ...

    Good luck
