    Newbie at the bar.....

    Hi all,

Just bought my first @ last night, a R/W/B 2000 model on a W with 1,900 miles. Rode it 50 miles home last night and 30 to work this morning. Could well use a bit of advice on the following:

    1) The seat's a bit...... solid! What's the recommended upgrade for serious comfort?

    2) The engine is pretty vibey above 80mph, is this normal, is there a fix without having to break the engine down completely?

    3) What tyres are people getting good wet weather grip from? When I take her abroad to do some proper offroad I'll fit some decent on/off tyres, but for commuting I just want grip!

    Many thanks for any help.

    Drinks are on me....

    Ali

    Welcome to the forum.

1 - You're not the first to notice this, lots of aftermarket seats on the forum and a mods by various companies, mine's being done by GA Wells tomorrow so can update you after that.

2 - Not really noticed this on mine, but it is a twin.

3 - Just put Anarchees on mine, but check the tyre poll for over all results.

    a W with 1,900 miles
Your comma is in the wrong place and you need another nought on the end.
No wonder it vibrates at 80mph - it's not run in yet.

Welcome - 1, 900 miles thats hardly run in !! Bet the wheels rims are free of the dreaded black spot too!
    1. Get the seat sorted by G.A.Wells - see lots of other threads or go for something like Touratech,Corbin or Africa Queens

    2. Vibes - carbs out of balance , non-OE handlebars with no bar-end weights make it worse, so do badly fitted crash bars.

3.Metzeler Tourance, Avon Distanzia , Bridgestone Trailwing etc.. for road use - off road Pirelli MT21s or Conti TKC80s. Think there used to be a set of Metzeler Road tyre available ( front tyre is a bit limiting on choice )? Everybody has their own personal favorites on tyres so it is pretty much trial and error. My advice avoid full on knobbly one on road - vibrate like hell at high speed and have really piss poor grip.

    Err... mines a pint...and a whisky chaser

Seat, ah yes, suggest you do a search, bit of a "sore" subject this one.

Vibes, as mentioned above, it's a V-twin, but make sure everythings screwed down tight especially if you've got crashbars fitted.

Tyres, see the tyre poll Tourances do well, I've got Anakee's which seem Ok, but I quite fancy those Anarchies someone mentioned

Oh and this is not an overly serious site, in case you hadn't guessed already.
