A big hammer or other suggestions

You may remember that I inflicted a bit of damage to the front of the bike and fitted a new front sub-frame (holding the instruments and lights). I've fiddled about as much as I dare and this is as close as I can get it:

    or, from the other side:

As you can see, it is still out of line, which means the lights shine slightly upwards. I know I can adjust the lights but I'd rather the whole thing joined up.
Any further suggestions? Anyone have a large mallet?

waiting to hear whether my mum is coming up. My daughter has to be taken to gymnastics at 6pm then collected at 8.30 and then my son has to be collected from Scouts at 9.30. If my mum has to be in London that afternoon I have a more than willing driver/babysitter and I'm out to play.
Wifey is out with other Cricket mums (son plays cricket a lot) so I'm pinning all my hopes on my mum coming up (come on granny, you know you want to see your grandchildren and spend all night driving a car across South London ).

    Hi Whealie,

I regularly spangle my front subframe on my little duc 620 sport and use a large pole to wrench the bugger into line. As long as you're reasonably gentle and don't try to bend too much in one go then she should budge. If in doubt then add a little heat.

    Cheers,

    ali

I was thinking, worse comes to worse, I get a babysitter from 9pm when I get back from gymnastics and come out then for a bit - but you'll have probably all gone home......
So, yeah, come by if I can't get out.

    Whealie

Did you see my reply on your earlier thread of the same problem?

I'm 98% sure it will be the one or both of the lugs on the front of the frame, that the headlight subframe bolts to.

You have probably bent one or both, my bike is the same.

To get (bodge) mine back together, I leave the two big bolts loose, then do all the fairing fasteners up so everything lines up nice. Afterwards, pinch up the two subframe bolts.

To fix it properly will take a bit of patience, but I did manage in on my RD03. You can either tap the lugs carefully, but sharrply a bit a a time until they're back in the right place, OR, elongate the holes on the new subframe so you have a bit of play in it before you bolt it up tight.

Mine is actually out to one side, which I guess may be easier to cure than you upwards problem.

    Good Luck

Got it this close as a result. Short of belting it with a big hammer I don't know what to do.

    Hmmm OK.

I guess then, unless you want to go down the route of getting those lugs re-welded into the exact right place, the easiest solution would be to elongate the holes on the subframe, and grind the welded nut off, to allow some fine adjustment.
Just seems a shame to do it to a new subframe really, can't you do a practice run/fit with the old subframe, and if you get it bang on, re-sell the new one?????
