    xrv 750 choke

Never ever used it even in winter when the bikes blippy just feather the throttle well tried it intentionally once and found it more hassle than use.
Anyone never used it nothing funny with my bike great mpg 60 plus just curious with all the questions people ask abpout the choke who actually uses it

I used to use mine every day come summer or winter. It needed it to run on idle although very quickly could be taken off the choke once I'd got going.

Mmmmm I always start from stone cold on half to three quarter choke, let the engine catch and smooth out ( seconds) and kill the choke about 50yds to 100yds after moving off.

I do not blip or touch the throttle until the bike starts/ smooths. The choke sets the idle speed for you as its designed to do

Mine won't start ( from cold) without it.
    i.e.
    (1) 3/4 choke at about minus 7 degs in the depth of winter and needs to be on for 1/2 mile

    (2) 1/2 choke at 12 degs ( today) shut off after 30yds.

Always returns 50mpg plus so must be OK

Starting form cold without choke would indicate you have your choke 'stuck' semi open? ( choke springs )
So the bike is running rich?

I would be more concerned the bike didn't need choke?

    One to ponder over

Not running rich nice burn on my plugs curious eh your useing more fuel than me too so that would indicate if anything mine is lean.
Judgeing by the posts about chokes on the forums it seem @t's have characters of there own.

Oh those boxes are spot on cheers magwa funny how you always seem to fill em up though

Half choke, drive straight off and turn off the choke almost immediately.

Agree with Whealie - choke half on to fire up and back of as soon as I'm moving

At the last service I found that my choke was stuck on. Since it was freed I haven't found that I have needed choke yet. I just get on, start and ride - nothing silly until engine is warm.

Mine won't start without at least a bit of choke (unless the bike's still warm). Only needs it a little while though. The only time it didn't need it was when the choke was sticky, for obvious reasons. Mpg at the time had dropped to 35 mpg, normal for me is 45 (20 mls commute) or a bit more on longer distances.

Just got a TDM that doesn't need a choke at all to fire up (does around 48 mpg, so probably fine / not sticky). My Buell (50 mpg) always needs full choke to fire up, but can be put back within seconds, much like my old 2 valve BMW boxers. Just need a tiny bit of throttle at the lights when stone-cold, but otherwise run well.

It seems all bikes have their own recipe

Still impressed and surprised by AT owners that don't need choke and still get 60 mpg
