The RD04 just needs a screwdriver... is thr RD07 different?
In one hand, hold a large hammer. In the other place a long drift and smack the sucker!!![]()
Absolutely the way to go, after loosening the locking ring with the same method.Originally Posted by pinoy-al

1 Varadero/34,000 miles ridden (of 57,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

Yeah, the 07 needs two c-spanners to do it properly, or a hammer and a screwdriver

Just to explain a bit further...
There are TWO adjustments available for the AT (and most other bikes) rear suspension.
1. Compression Damping: This is adjusted on the AT by the screw on the remote reservoir, and controls the rate at which the suspension compresses, i.e goes down.
2. Preload: This adjusts the amount of preload on the rear spring, and is adjusted by turning the two (adjustment and locking) rings that are part of the threaded section on the rear shocker, altering the length of, and compressing spring. Preload alters static sag, and will alter the ride making it firmer. This also has the benefit of keeping the bike's rear end higher when your weight is on it, BUT SHOULD NOT BE CONFUSED with raising the rear ride height, which is not adjustable on an AT.
Make any adjustments in minute, and adjust one thing at a time. Don't go cranking for the fun of it if you're unsure, as you'll probably find yourself looking at the sky on the first slippy slidey corner!!
Hope that helps

Bob
