    Well nice stuff Ian,

My Side-stand has no footplate left at all. I cant seem to find a replacement, you think your boot could fix that?

Also I resprayed my cockpit antler when I had to take the fairings off to replace indicator on the front. Very easy task that made a huge difference.

I'm Looking for a full fairing set for the front of the bike but I can only find a new set from a German crowd in red (no stickers) for about 300eur. Think thats a good as a deal as I'll get? I see this Greece chap has the side panels which I'll order from him I think.

As an Edit I found a new stand for 67GBP on this site here. I've ordered off them before, a little expensive but sometimes worth it to cut the bullshit out of sifting through loads of ebay ads,

    alright Aidan

yeah the cockpit antler respray really does make a massive difference..

as for the side stand.. so mine and yours sound like the same problem.. so the camel foot extender had the exact shape (depth, width etc) of the missing footplate.
so I used some very stiff cardboard to make a template, cut the steel with my angle grinder, then got my mate down the road to weld it.
so it was a cheap fix from that point of view..and I used the depth of the camel foot to get the thickness of the steel as well.

so it was a cheap and cheerful fix.

I PM'd you a list of breakers, I got a few numbers from Alias, one of which was Alan in AY breakers in Tralee.. he was breaking a full Rd07a when I spoke to him looking for engine mounts.

I have been getting a lot of transalp parts... I wonder if the side stand is the same.? Maybe some of the Transalps lads on the forum could advise.????

    https://www.hamart.at/shopG/product_...cond-hand.html

it looks very similar... but I suppose its hard to tell from the pictures on the web.

Looking at the Fowlers site it looks like the stand for the XRV is specifically for the XRV and the part numbers for the Transalp are different

Looks like it's still available to order, £52+vat and delivery

Good job mate. I like the finish from the "zinc phosphate". Is that just from a spray can?
I was over in Waterford in Sept for a few days, got one gloriously sunny day and had a spin along the copper coast and up to the Comeraghs. Didn't see many AT's over there

@Jakethepeg007... thanks for checking that. I reckon Aidan is going to ring around the breakers at this stage, and see if he can strike it lucky with them.

@Glenn... no worries Glenn. I am waiting on a few bits to arrive now; oil pressure switch, speedo gear, silicone hoses and a few other bits. So I thought I would keep tipping away at some of the cosmetic jobs, delighted you are enjoying the thread.

hey Geldof... yeah its just from a spray can, this is the stuff here.
Eastwood Zinc Phosphate Aerosol (340g) | Frost Restoration

I had been using the Simoniz tough satin black, but the zinc stuff finish is just so nice that I changed over to it for all my smaller components and mounts.
I have been testing it on some other parts (trip computer, and some plastics) which were very very cracked and aged looking.. so used a plastic primer and tried this stuff with it. I left it drying last night, so will test it out today. Dunno if its going to work but sure I will give it a go.

yeah there are some lovely drives over here, copper coast being one of the more scenic.. at least you got 1 good sunny day for your visit.
I am gonna try and organize a run with some of the AT owners over here when this bike is finished and the weather improves... people will think its an invasion!!!!

Re: hello from Waterford , Ireland

    bit of assistance please?

just doing the torque settings on my bolts, when I noticed that this bolt sits pretty much on the face of this arm..
I tested it with a piece of paper and I couldnt even get that in..

is this normal? I have looked at the frame stripping project pictures, my own pictures and my haynes manual and cannot seem to find an answer

should there be more of a flush hex bolt in there? like the other end of the dog and bone has that connects to the swing arm?

I dont think this is correct..???

ok, there is enough play in that arm.. to move it over..
is there meant to be a washer in there to keep it aligned?

or is the play meant to be in there?

    hey Geldof..

yeah I looked at the parts fiche.. there is not meant to be a washer.. and from a few other threads.. it seems the play is meant to be there.
    so onwards with the rebuild!!!
