    hello from Waterford , Ireland

    hey Folks

just joined the forum .. as I sold my BMW R1200 ADV just bought myself a 00 Africa Twin Rd07a... she is a little bit of a labour of love.
many many years of being ignored and left out in the rain (rust and wiring issues) but going to return her to full glory..
the site has been a great help already with wiring and information..

any if anyone is in the neighborhood.. drop in for Tea (or coffee) I can guarantee biscuits...

    Hi there
Put up a picture of what you are starting from.
The frame paint isn't the best quality to be sure.
And the wheel rims get tatty or worse.

Re: hello from Waterford , Ireland

hey lads, cheers for the advice. much appreciated... well starting at the back where I am now.. this is the some of what I have found

the left hand smaller support columns at the back under the top rails have been eaten away completely. but its not the main part of the load
bearing rail, so I can cut it out and weld back in a new tubular support, its just a rear luggage support tube.
(you can see it in the picture of the side of the bike with the regulator visible.

most of the nuts are seized..and I had to heat them to get them off.. back of the bike is not the best.. most is surface mottled rust..
a good blasting and rust restore. zinc primer.. and it will be fine again.

a lot of the wiring is rusted, starter solenoid is melted as you can see.
I found an old scott oiler bodged into the body work, some weird LED lights..inside the body panels... maybe he liked the "ufo look"
a lot of "DIY enthusiast dream" soldering went on odd bits of wires here and there taped up where they used to connect to something...

brakes at the front, vaguer than a politician... and some pulsing feedback .. so either front discs are gone.. or pads..
smell of petrol most of the time.. cracked fuels lines...
a weird aux wiring into the fuel pump wiring.. I think they may have tried to use it as a switched feed..

    up the front..

    speedo - nada
trip computer - turns itself off and on randomly
    headlights - only one working
indicators - comes on when its in the mood
body panels... cracked, then handpainted with a brush.. (rat rod look for an AT maybe????? )

so here is the plan.. strip it.. .. blast it... get the engine polished...(glass bead) and rebuild it
back to stock.. with a few upgrades here and there.
