    New Rear Shock Suggestions?

    Hi guys,

I'm looking to buy a new shock for my RD07 (My one is knackered). Nothing fancy or racey, just looking for something durable and reliable.

I know nothing about them and know you guys know best.
    All suggestions welcome.

    Thanks in advance,
    Aidan.

Best cheap shock is the YSS, about €250-€300 My friend drove he's Varadero from Ireland to Mongolia with it and no issues, still in use..

Also the Wilbers 540 shock, not supper fancy but the best basic shock you can get. I have the 640 with remote preload adjuster , but only because I travel with a lot of luggage two up and adjust the shock almost daly. If I rode solo I would have got the 540 shock.

    Hi Dylan,

Just had a look at your Instagram. Great pics man looks incredible.

This the shock you talking about?
I'd plan to have luggage and the missus on the back too so I suppose I'd have to follow you threads. How much did you pay for yours?

With Height adjustment + Hydraulic spring preload your look at 700GBP right? Worthy extras?

    Thanks,
    Aidan

    Hi Aido,

    Thank you

I paid €700 euro for mine.

I got it from Paul @ VMTek Suspension (0871531523) he works with Wilbers but he's shop is in Cork, Ireland.

My preload adjuster needs about 10 turns when all the luggage goes on . And we take off the luggage almost every day.
To adjust the spring with a c spanner would be a nightmare on the RD03 , and if I didn't adjust the spring then it would be far too stiff.
With the remote adjuster you get the best of both, great spring when solo and great when two up fully loaded.

It's 300€ more then the standard but if you ride a lot with two and luggage then you will be happy you got it.

On my RD03 I've used an Hagon basic last year (With 140 N/mm spring) and it was perfect. The regulation of the damping was working very well (It is possible to block the damper completely!).
I used it a lot offroad (Cow Adventure, Turkey, Georgia, Balkans) and it started licking after 25000 km.

Fair enough, shit happens and it has seen a lot of mud and dust.

On a KLE I have one aswell and no problem at all.

    hey Aidan

Val has dealer that can provide the Wilbers 640.. for 380 euro delivered from Germany... send him a message there and get the link from him..

if I had known I could get that shock for that money, I would have got that instead of the YSS

Front forks where rebuilt with thicker oil,
the mechanic added some spacers to stiffen the springs. I don't remember the exact details but there was a noticeable difference.
