Please update your profile/signature with what model of AT you have.
This will help answer this and future questions you may have.

    RD03, RD04, RD07, or RD07a ????

Wiring looms and colour differ between models.

Can only do a quick answer at the moment.

I don't have my electrical diagram to hand at the moment, but I'm pretty sure that the RD03 and RD04 have separate relays for the high and low beam. The good thing is, this makes them interchangeable,so you can switch them over to prove the relay.

Don't quote me just yet, but I'll try and get my diagram today and give you more info. It just might help you trace the fault.

Hi bob,I have2 relays, not interchangeable,Hi beam works ok but no low beam,I,ve checked 2 4pin 12v relays with a spare battery but they won,t work on the bike.I have 4 coloured leads,3 have full battery power and 1 doesnt. When I use the 4 pin relay with a separate bettery it works but when I use the power from one of the powered leads from the bike it wont work.I cant understand why not.The honda dealer here in christchurch new zealand wants to charge me 15 to 20 quid for the new relay.he cant find it on his microfisch as he only has from 93 onwards.I cant ride the bike at night only on full beam so I use my blackbird instead. If I cant find a solution I ll have to take it to an auto electrical place to see if they can sort it out so any help would be great...cheers-kenny

    Low beam relay

When the Hi beam is on, only 1 cable has 12volts. This would be the switch side on the relay.
This is how it works. From your Hi / Low switch either off or on. Pass turns both Hi and Low relays on. Low beam on. 12volts is sent to the Relay ( coil ) the other side of the coil is connected to ground. The coil actives the switch. On the switch you always have on one side with 12volts from the battery and the other side is connect to the low beam side of the 55/60watt bulb i.e 55watt and then on the other side of the bulb is ground. You should be able to hear and feel the relay clicking as you turn on low beam. If this is not happening. Check the ground path and the 12volts to the relay when activated. I added a Low beam relay so that I could have both lamps on in low beam mode.
