    Model Identification - Help Required

Wondered if anyone could help me with this. I have a K plated AT. It is shown on the V5 Registration document as being first registered in 1996, although it's year of manufacture is shown as 1993. I think the bike was imported from France in 1996.

Could anyone assist with model identification. From the V5 the VIN is given as R007/2002509, and the engine number as R004E/2302369.

The bike is very distinctive in red/green/white Castrol Honda colours.

I would put a picture of it if I knew how.[/url]

You must mean RD07 at the start of the frame number and RD04 at the start of the engine number, that's your model. One of the first 'RD07s' I reckon.
3 Africa Twins/280,000 miles. If it's happened to one of mine, it's gonna happen to one of yours.....eventually.

1 Varadero/17,000 miles ridden (of 40,000 miles on the bike), it's all still new to me!

That will be RD at the front of each.
All engines were numbered RD04 but the hframes moels indicate the bike.
The RD03 was the orginal, the RD04 stopped in 1992 and the RD07 followed. A later model was the RD07A.
See the artticle section for the full list.
By the way, don't feel embarassed, The RD stands for regularly dropped.

    Model Identification - Help Required

Re the engine and VIN numbers, they definitely start R007 and R004E and not RD. I did wonder if it was a misprint on the V5. I was concerned it might be the first of the RDO7s with a replacement engine from an RD04, or are the engines identical anyway?

All the UK RD04 and RD07/a bikes' engine numbers start with RD04. I know it's an import and they might be different but are you not mistaking the 'RD' for 'R0'.

Anyway, from the visual clues and your description, I'd say your bike is an RD07. Just noticed the silencer has the RD07 rear mounting too.
Your AT looks the same as mine except for the neat paint job! So, it's not and RD03, RD04 or RD07a, but an RD07.

Next time you have the tank off, see if each spark plug has it's own coil (i.e. four coils - must be a Two Ronnies type joke in there somewhere ). That's another sign that it's an RD07.

BTW - what's the front mudguard off and is the fork brace still under there? I prefer the look of AT's without the fork leg guards.

Perhaps when it was imported whoever created the new UK registration document mis-read the engine number and typed in RO instead of RD? (A jobsworth in the DVLA?)
The bikes were RD in every country.

Yes, early 07 by the looks of it.

Front mudguard looks a bit "worrying", but very interesting colour scheme. Let's just hope it's not a trubute to its oil-consumption
