    Brakes again

Heh heh, look what I bought on eBay...

This is the complete front end brake system! Looking a bit grubby:

...but most of that cleaned off with a toothbrush, and without any solvents. I've cleaned up one caliper so far, and no sign of corrosion. This must be from a very low-mileage bike - those are nissin pads, which are hardly worn and which I am guessing are the originals. Oh, and...

...the system was sealed, so I could pump the pistons out a bit to clean them up! For the side I've done, the pistons looked fine and popped straight back in!

Of course I don't need these at all just yet, but it's nice to have some spares given all the bad press the AT calipers have had around here.

Is there any way to check the disks are straight without fitting them on the bike?

Ah, good thinking - I have a steel ruler, which presumably is fairly straight! I paid £123 for the brakes, plus a tenner for postage.
