    Heated Grips - how hot?

I just got around to finally fitting my GTMOTO (Halfords) heated grips. I have not ridden with them as yet, but in the garage I am underwhelmed by the amount of heat they seem to generate. It seems to me they only get 'mildly lukewarm', which I am not convinced will be much use. What are other folks' experiences of heated grips?

Oh dear, it doesn't sound like mine are working very well. Too bad I have just glued them on

Maybe they will be different when I'm on the move, or after warming up for longer. The instructions say it takes 10 mins for them to get fully warmed up. There is no dial, but a 3-position switch (lo/hi/off). Of course, it's always possible I have wired them up wrong...

take them out and try them they may need you to grip them for a while before they get very hot, the honda ones take a while and they get nice and toasty !

Mine seem to be the opposite - they get too hot and I find myself switching them off regularly.

Re: Heated Grips - how hot?

Funny, but my Oxford ones have just packed up (its the controller) but they used to get VERY hot.

One thing I remember though, just after I'd fitted them (the 1st time, they're now on their 3rd bike!!) is that they didn't seem that hot, when I switched them on. Once out on the road, and with gloved hands around them, they were perfect, and sometimes a little too hot.

Don't expect the handlebars to start glowing, but you may find that once you're holding onto them, they may be more than adequate, so give it a try before peeling 'em off.

    Good Luck

    Bob
