A lot depends on your height

This has been well covered here:

Due to my height (6'4"), I still get a lot of windnoise, using the Powerbronze Flip Screen even with one of the quietest lids (Shoei XR1000), so I've resorted to using Shure sound isolating in earphones - no wind noise, clear music, and works perfectly with the Autocom.

    Re: Screens...

I have gone with the Vario MRA screen and am quite happy with it..
I am selling a touring screen though, 1 Vanu Clear touring screen- only two very small rubs where the screen touched the trip computer.

I had some on interested but they kinda fell off the planet.. the screen is with Wheelie if you want an other opinion.. (it may make the shipping bit a wee bit odd too)..

    Re: Screens...

Screens are personal, but after suffering this type of problems on several bikes in the past my advice would be to always "go lower" rather than higher or experiment with all kinds of interesting looking spoilers. You may get a bit more wind-pressure but you get used to that real soon (unless you want to use an open face helmet while smoking a fag), and the noise is usually less. Also when using high screens you can get the most curious and frantic effects in storms or passing lorries, esp while carrying a passenger.

I am 6"5, run the standard screen and works fine for me; I can run 90 - 100 without earplugs or exhaustion for hours if it must be.

    Re: Screens...

I totally agree with robelst. I'm running a cut down Powerbronze screen at the moment which does the job well and looks like this:

You do get used the wind pressure and the noise and turbulence is lower. Having said that I would prefer to make this one shorter still, but the shape of the fairing reduces what's possible without making it all look odd. The Powerbronze screen it came from was pretty protective and surprisingly quiet for something with a slight flip (flip screens normally create turbulence), but I bought one with too dark a tint and doidn't like the way it impare vision when wet. Especially when filtering.

Other than that I've spent a lot of time experimenting with spoilers and air slots to smooth flow (on ATs and TAs, which is the worse of the two bikes from my experience) and oddly enough ended up with something that looks like an unadjustable MRA Vario.... To make this I used a Powerbronze screen from an RD04 (procurred for a tenner on Fleabay) and cut a concavity in the bottom of it to make a channel for the air. This was bolted via alloy 'arms' to the outer two screen mountings, the ones that mount directly to the fairing frame. Those mounts were separated from the original screen using modesty blocks, and the upper part of the screen was held using two other arms and separated from it by two more modesty blocks. Shame I haven't got a picture - not easy to explain! The arrangement worked well and was very protective, but too large for my liking...
