Marzocchi Magnum or Shiver on the @... Anyone ???

    Hello from Greece!

I have been browsing through this forum for sometime and I decided to post a couple of questions regarding the Marzocchies from AQ. Has anyone of you guys fitted the Magnum or the Shiver on your bikes? I found some threads regarding this issue, but they are a bit old, so I guess none of you has done it yet (if you did, you would be blasting the forum with posts and pics !!!) Has anyone also increased the @ height? If so, what sidestand did you use afterwards? Some pics would be also great!
Thanks in advance and ride safely…….

Re: Marzocchi Magnum or Shiver on the @... Anyone ???

i have had a 'heightened" africa twin for a few years now (rdo7),which i used the african queens parts for; front; tougher wirth springs and added insert into forks, rear: tougher spring and replacement "triangle" at bottom of shock.last winter, took it to tunisia .it worked ok (loved finally using michelin deserts, what a laugh...) but still felt too soft both front and rear.the front bottomed out more often than my shaken brain can remember (80 mph on a piste, hmm).so now i am buying myself an oehlins for the rear with the toughest mother of a spring i can get (making it very uncomfortable on the road) and am converting some ex husaberg/ktm 48 mm upside down forks for the front.i will use tougher springs in the forks (as the husaberg donor was a 500 cc single i think),the main problem will be bearings etc for the steering head, may need to have a few bits made up by an engineering shop.
there are photos and a video trailer on a website: www.ennerwee.lu
i have resprayed and respecced the bike since, photos soon.
regarding the sidestand,i will use the old one and weld on a few inches....
i am not the first to do the fork conversion thing, there are a few germans out there who already have,as usual

found the site of the german guy who did the mod.he did have a complete engineering shop backing him up,i got a few quotes from them just to see....i am going back to my initial idea of doing most of it myself and getting someone local to make up any additional bits i need:

    http://www.bikertravel.de/bikertrave...in2/Gabel.html

i found that a new set of forks plus the adaptors are worth more than my bike...not for me.

please keep me informed of any "adventures" you are undertaking re: forks, there is always something i can learn.

Search for FatBlokes posts. He jacked his AT up front and back and posted pics too - here you go... almost done .... (are we ever done?)

Wowww this is some project from this German fellow! But I am thinking of a more “bolt-on” solution like the one from AQ. That way you can roll-back if anything changes in your taste or you decide to sell the bike. The one from "fat bloke" is a beauty I have to admit. And the side stand looks aftermarket, or from a XR, CR probably. I’ll post him a message to find out. Thanks xrv_jim!
