Facet Pump Suggestion + a few quick questions...

    Right, a few things here.

    Firstly
I thought I’d let people know how I fitted the Facet Pump. My friend and I tried for an hour to stretch the Honda rubber mount over the new pump and despite trying many of the things suggested in the Facet Pump Thread, eventually ending up with torn rubber and sore fingers .

    So

I cut up some rubber sheet (1/16th” thick, don't ask me where to get the rubber, I got it out of my Dads workshop) into a length to pass round the pump, glued the RHS of the pump (as laid out in the 1st picture) to the middle of the strip. Wrapped the rubber round over the top to the LHS of the pump, pulled it tight & glued to the LHS of the pump. Once this was done, pulled the other end of the rubber round underneath the pump & glued that to the LHS. I then cut up the original Honda mounting and glued the mounting points of this to the outside of the rubber that I just wrapped round the pump. (hope this makes sense and is of use)

These pictures above show the pump installed, you should get the jist. I would have taken pics as I built it however I hadn’t thought of that at the time.

The glue I used was Loctite Superglue from B & Q (see pic). Absolutely brilliant stuff . Sticks anything to anything and sets in no time. The first two attempts I tried using Evostick after a recommendation from a friend but it was no good kept falling apart.

    Secondly
What is the purpose of the Mudguard Bridge under the front mudguard? (see pic below). Is it to prevent the forks spreading outwards coz they’re quite long? If it’s not structural can it be removed? It seems to just sit in the firing line of all the cr*p that gets flung off the road (LOTS of salt recently) and appears to be happily corroding away……..

    Thirdly
I’ve got Touratech Zega panniers, does anyone know a technique to remove the LHS rear fairing panel with the pannier frame in place. RHS comes off ok.

    Cheers, Chris

the first sounds fine, superglue should be Ok, but check it again when it's been wet and cold a few dozen times.

the third I have no idea, I don't have panniers.

the second, yes it is supposed to help brace the forks, lots of peeps have taken them off though with relatively little effect, useful if you're getting a high level motorcross stylie mudguard, but if like me you're keeping the standard guard then give it a good coat of your favourite colour Hammerite and stick it back on, if nothing else it will help hold the mudguard in place.

i had the same problem. Eventually did it after leaving the rubber in boiling water for ages!
