    mileage?

Hi, I'm looking at buying a At, Dave S one infact, and I'm concerned about mileage, I've always looked for the best low mileage bikes I can find, which is quite hard with the AT, as they don't come up very offen. I'm sure if the bikes are looked after the they can all done 1000s of miles, it's just the resale and pricing? it seems you can buy a late AT with 20/40000 miles on it from £2500/3000ish. What I thinking is when I have owned it for a coulpe of years when it may 60000miles on it, has the bottem has fell out the price and no one wants to buy it? Should I keep looking or go for whats about at the mo? It's hard with ATs as they don't come up very offen?

    You`re buying a bike...not an investment.

The value a few years from now isn`t worth even considering, never mind worrying about.

    Buy it...use it...enjoy it.

At 40,000 miles it will have been run-in. At 60,000 it will be in its prime. At 130,000, somebody from this forum will take the engine apart, strip it down and start all over again.

When the AT acquire's "true" classic status, you could, happily be buying both ?

from what i've heard about @'s i wouldn't worry too much about the mileage as many of them do well over 100,000 miles. Don't think you would have too much to worry about with it at 60,000 miles as long as you look after it well.

    That's almost poetic!

Some nice low milage AT's do crop up in the for sale section every now & again, so they are out there.

Higher milage ain't an issue for a well maintained bike, but I agree with you, a nice lowmilage bike will alway's appeal to a wider audience than a comparable but higher milage example and will command a higher price because of that.

    Re: mileage?

Never understood people buying bikes/cars and keeping the mileage down so that they don't lose out on resale.
Buy an @ use it, pile the miles on and enjoy, by the time its worn out we could all be riding electric bikes anyway and your @ will be worth naff all.
