    Made in Japan

My @ was built and sold in Japan before making it's way to my hands in the states. So my ? is what are the differances in the bikes sold in euorpe
verses the one I got from Japan? The light switches are the same as all my other Hondas that were made for the US market. Any one know where to look up stats on the @?

    Re: Made in Japan

There are a couple of differences on models sold around the world. There were a couple of European models which were limited to a power to weight ratio ( Austria and Switzerland - I think ) these had significant differences to carb jetting. This is not a restrictor kit as used in UK to limit power - You can tell which market the bike was intended for from the Frame number. It might be listed on www.atic.org. As the AT was never sold in the USA you will not find anything strange like the sort of sealed fuel systems found on bikes destined for California. The other thing that used to be different in Europe was headlight laws - some countries only permitted one headlight on dip beam and Italy had limits of 35w/35w headlights. Germany had some peculiar law about rear mudguard length but as the AT already had a fairly long rear mudguard it was not affected.

Please scuse my everlasting stupidity in the At wisdom department; but are all the UK bikes restricted? and if they are, can they be set free again?

I'm not a power freak, just interested as it's one of my few gripes with my bike - a little low on power sometimes (the other is the wind blast at anything over 60mph). and I get the arguments in favour of lower oomph, just like the idea of having a choice.

    Thanks

RD07a, reg in 2001, Black, heated grips, short screen, Scottoiler, Givi top box and panniers, DataTag, full Riky Cross crash bars, Baglux tank cover, Facet pump, mostly 200 miles to reserve and presently a lot happier since being loved up at Chad's hospital for sick ATs!

I think I read some where the bikes over in Europe are built in Spain.
Nothing againest Spain, But I got some replacement parts for my wife's NX125 from there and the castings weren't much to speak of.

    Thanks Chad. sad...
Now the weather's better, my arse keeps twitching at me asking when I'm next going to scare it to death... usually rely on the four or eight wheel madpersons to take care of that for me though.

    Bought in WA?

Is this the same bike that was on ebay? If so, that's pretty nice example. Too nice. I would worry too much about wrecking it offroad.

There's plenty of info right here on this forum about the differences between the models. Or was it atic.org? Damn, getting old sucks.

Give that man a cigar! Yep that's the one, Found it's way from Japan
to Seattle and now to Wisconsin. The bike really is in good shape, just a few blemishes from the last owner dropping it in the garage. I don't know how restricted the Japanese exhaust emissions are. I have to check the carb i.d.# to see if they match up to any # Iv'e got in the British manual.
I must say the last owner gave me many extra parts and had to sell.
(didn't want to sell family reasons) His loss my gain!!!

    Hey there PP,

I hope you held onto all the clutch parts and the seller told you that your @ needs to have the clutch replaced. That is why the clutch lever is so hard to pull in. I hope you don't have a problem registering it either with the VIN plate missing on the right side of the frame.

Other than that, it looked like it was a nice @. Can't beat factory heated grips.

Are you the guy that went over for test ride?

I think the vin plate missing is how the bike got registered from the first owner. I did a back ground check on bike and found out the bike is registered by the state. Meaning the state issued the frame number to the bike. What that means to me is my insurance will only give me liability not full coverage. I'm told the state issued title is what OCC type shop use to get titles on thier bikes. The bike has plates and insurance from my
state now. As for the clutch, the cable adjustment was way off. I backed off on the clutch and everything is hunky dory.
