    Question Rear end crash protection.

Before i get my bike all sprayed up, i'm thinking about adding some protection for the rear side panels.

I've got some front crash bars to go on, but am wondering if its possible to fit something at the rear, or if the AT goes down, does the rear stay clear of the ground anyway ? - any volunteers willing to experiment

What i had in mind was possibly mounting some crash bobbins on either side - worth investigating or a waste of time

I'm hopefully going to the bmf this month, so can have a scout around.

    I thank you

Pannier racks? They did a grand job of catching my AT every time I dropped it! Or are you after something a bit more low key?

low key for me - i dont have any pannier racks, and will probably never use them to be honest.

Yep pannier racks, cheap , cheerful, & works

Givi ones are not as robust as Touratech ones but blend away in satin black powdercoat

The rear panels do NOT come into contact with the floor in a static drop ( controlled lower more like)
......tried it in my Garage for you on a piece of carpet

My front end bars ( Ricki Cross) lower crash bars and rear foot rests touch first with Zero consequences/ damage

but if you are so afraid of being 'rear ended' perhaps you shouldn't be riding?

The danger is normally UP FRONT, I know been there done that

You see the pic, I give you a clue what caused the dent in my Triumph Trophys petrol tank?

Yes I won't forget 1335hrs 31 July 2001 in a hurry and walking like John Wayne for several months
    Yeap That Hurt.
But the car driver ( taxi driver) was done at court so alls well in the end

The Danger is in front, I'm normally going to fast to worry whats behind me.......

@, I think stabilizers may impeed my off road progress - you cheeky fecker

magwa - I'm not worried about being hit in the rear (that doesnt sound right ), more for when i go off road and fall over (it will happen at some point) - i'm thinking of fitting some crash mushrooms where the side panels bolt on at their lowest fixing point. the idea being to give the side panels some extra protection.

Having come off and seen Lord Vader come off and slide graciously across tarmac I'd say that on a standard @ front crash bars and bark busters will take all the impact. So it depends how far from standard yours will end up.
