    how good is an @

So I went out to the garage the other day to realign the bashbars and straighten a few things on the @ after binning it and thought I might as well see if it would start.
I wasn't really expecting it to even crank let alone start as it had been sitting in the garage where I parked it up after my crash 10 weeks earlier but to my surprise after cranking it a few times to get some fuel though it it fired straight up.
Honda must have done something right when they bolted the old RD04 together as I don't know many of my mates bikes that will start after a month without having to charge the battery first and no way would they start after 10 weeks.

I think I'll keep her even tho she did bust my ankle

I'll add a bit to this too...

    The Resurrection!!!

My last RD04 was rather a sad old thing. VERY worn out, but it just battled on, even with it's slowly disintegrating, rather shakey engine.

Anyway, a year or so ago, I noticed a guy selling a low mileage (8000 miles) AT engine on eBay, so I arranged to go and have a look before bidding.

On arrival, I found the said engine still bolted into the remains of his once, pride and joy RD04. A year before that, he had left the bike outside in his back garden for one night only, and guess what? Yeah, the local lowlife yoofs had nicked it!!

Anyway, it had been trashed and thrashed. All the bodywork, front and rear subframes, clocks, lights, and most of the wiring loom had been hacked off with an angle grinder. The remaining parts of the bike (tank, seat, frame, handlebars etc) had been spray painted with black and white primer to disguise it, or camouflage it into the surroundings of the local council estate, where it spent a year being thrashed, wheelspun, wheelied, dropped, and crashed!!

I was looking at the sad hulk in the corner of the guys garage thinking, "8000 miles on a 13 year old bike...surely this sad old RD04 deserves another chance?"

Anyway, I couldn't bring myself to take the engine out of his frame, so did a deal with him, and ended up taking the whole thing home. Slowly, I started to rebuild the old girl with parts from eBay, and today, it has completed another 5000+ miles, been to France, Spain, and the Moon and back, and looks, starts, and runs brilliantly!!!!!

I've got other bikes, but I ride my old RD04 the most, and I always have a grin every time I look at it!!

    Cheers

A sad day Bob, hope you get a good price, not sure I'd have put a "buy it now" on it, just let it run.

I know you've had "issues" with the bike, but it's had some really good work done to it and should make someone very happy
