My AT died and then resuscitated itelf

Tootling along at 70mph on my beloved AT this morning and all was well. Suddenly it simply died (for want of a better description). Engine lost all power, almost like running out of petrol. It wasn't the petrol because I'd just filled up. I'd only been on the road for about 20 mins or so. I pulled in (well more like glided in) to have a look (not that I'd have the foggiest what to look at or for !). Engine turned over OK but wouldn't fire up. No smell of petrol. No overheating as far as I'm aware. After about 30 mins and whilst I was on the phone to the RAC I tried to start the engine again and it started first time (as it has since I've owned the bike). I jumped back on and carried on my journey and it was fine. It's never ever played up before. Most reliable bike I've ever had. I'm worried now about it happening again. Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks
    Gaz

    Thanks Cie
Do you think it was a one-off or has my fuel pump had it? Should I be looking out for a new one?
    Thanks

You need to be getting a new one. This is a well known problem with the fuel pump, and is exactly what happened to mine.

You can either replace it with an OEM part or go for a facet pump, which don't appear to have the same problems.

There's a thread running now about the facet pumps, and I believe there are some in the shop, ask DaveS

That sounds very much like the fuel pump. I had the same symptoms and the fuel pump was the problem. The part is from the Mitsubishi parts bin (what possessed Honda to use this we can only guess) and, like so many of Mitsubishi products, they are not always 100% reliable.

I 3rd/4th.10th that.. it is exactly what happened to me... worst part is you will pull off the pump test it and it will sound like it is working.. just put in the facet and you will not have to think about that ever again.. besides if we are wrong.. you will have the change the pump one day so do it now and forget about it,

Mine done the same last week, Changed the pump for a Facet one, and the bikes seems to have more power? It's very easy to do, and only cost £39.00 the honda OEM I was quoted £140.00 plus vat.
