Hello all...
Long time no see... I haven't been on the forum for quite a long time... But I have a good reason... I've been busy getting married and, most importantly, getting my bike on the road for a looong trip.....
So... After the wedding, me and 2 friends, got our wifes/girlfriends and our bikes and set up for a honeymoon on the bike.. There were 3 bikes... An Aprilia Pegaso 650, a brand new Suzuki DL 650 V-STROM and my Honda XRV 750 Africa Twin (model 1992, RD04).
We talked about it for weeks before leaving and we established that we would want to follow the next path: Timisoara (our home city, in Romania) – Budapest (Hungary) – Vienna (Austria) – Zell Am See (Austria) – Grossglockner (a high alpine road in Austria) – Cortina D'Ampezzo (Italy) – Venice (Italy) – Trieste (Italy) – Pula (Croatia) – Plitvice (a natural reservation in Croatia) – Rijeka (Croatia) – Siofok (near Lake Balaton in Hungary) and then back home. In total, 3250 km in 15 days.
We left on the 15-th of June... Our first stop – Vienna... We stayed there for 3 nights. We went shopping (the girls asked for it) and we visited Vienna. Shonbrun castle and the gardens were really nice... Also the Prater Amusement Park... Really nice... Something to see when you get there...
From Vienna we went to the Grossglockner road... That is something very impressive. The road is about 100 km long and it goes over the Alps. It goes up to 2571 meters high. It is something worth seing and worth experiencing on the bike. The sceneries there were great! No wonder it is called Biker's Himmel (Biker's Heaven).
After the Grossglockner we went to Venice... To be honest, I didn't like it at all.. Dirty, wet, extremely expensive and with a lot of mosquitos... Everyting is erxtremely commercial there... They extract money from anything there and lots of it. I'll probably never go there again...
After the unpleasant experience in Venice, we left for Croatia... We got to Pula and stayed there for 2 nights. That was really nice.. The sea there is great, the water is clean, the waves were nice, the prices were ok... I got a nasty sunburn there, but that was entirely my fault..
After Pula... we went to Plitvice... That, again, is something worth seing... 80 lakes, on different hights, with waterfalls between them. With a wonderful clear, blue water, with a lot of trout inside, with great vegetation on the sides... Great thing to see, probably unique in the world.
After Plitvice, we left again for the seaside. We went to Rijeka and we found a resort close by, called Icici... We stayed there for 3 nights.. Nice place too, great water, great beaches (even though they were not sand beaches... the beaches were rocky beaches), nice prices.
From Icici we started the loong road back home.. We stopped in Siofok tor one night, just to see the Balaton Lake and after that.. back home....
If you want to see some pics... I've put them on another bikers forum:
