Extra connecter on Trip, ideas please

Hi folks, just changing all my dash and trip bulbs and found a male and female bullet connector hanging off the wires going into trip, they weren't connected to each other anfd doesn't appear any obvioues places to put them ( no body suggestions thanks)
Any idea what they do (trip appears to work fine with them not connected) and should I connect them or leave well alone.

If it was all working fine before I'd leave it...I imagine it could be for a battery backup facility to keep clock and trip info if the main battery dies.

In keeping with my hijacking of your other thread does anyone know where you can get replacement button membranes from? One of mine is split...

Oooh, sorry to jump on Chronyx' hijack Shack - but mine too my dealer says they're not available one their own - whole new unit £400+ so was going to replace with non-standard unit or GPS when it finally lets water in and fizzes out of existence!

On the your wires Shack, every bike I've had since the 70s has had loads of wires going nowhere - I assumed that it was to do with using components (including wiring looms) that were designed for some other purpose so redundant bits all over? I'd leave em alone if they were mine but only on the basis that I don't know what they're for
RD07a, reg in 2001, Black, heated grips, short screen, Scottoiler, Givi top box and panniers, DataTag, full Riky Cross crash bars, Baglux tank cover, Facet pump, mostly 200 miles to reserve and presently a lot happier since being loved up at Chad's hospital for sick ATs!

They can shove that where the sun doesn't shine!!

Probably about £30 worth of electronics in there tops!

Wonder how old those 'new' ones are too...

    C U Next TuesdayS...

I found some random wires behind the headlights that don't go anywhere...just ignored 'em, if they were going to cause a problem I guess they would have by now, probably dead anyway!
