just before i wrote my at off i took my trip to a friend who is an electronics wizz. my trip would read the time no probs but distance only increased by 1 mile every 100 or so. with a bit of work he discovered that as he put it the unit had died of old age (common amongst electronics so he tells me) but the result is he knows what killed it and is able to replace the parts that have died. he did this for mine and yes it started working properly. ive manged to pursuade him to do some more if anyone is interested it'll cost £50 for parts and labour but he did say he'd only charge if it is repairable i will try to find out exactly what the cause is and post it up for thoughs that know what hes on about
post or pm if you want to know more
mike
