Ok,
We all know that trying to get the rubber mount off of the OEM pump and onto the square shape of the facet pump is one of the most annoying/frustrating things ever.
Well I tried it without boiling or heating but just using two pieces of wood the end of a broom handle and a vice to clamp it in.
This is what I did:
I cut two pieces of wood about 15cm long and slightly wider than the facet pump. I then cut a wedge out of each end of the wood so I've two pieces that look like this:
![]()
So the bits that I cut out will go over the top of the facet pump case but dont do this yet.
Put the rubber over the top of where the cut away is so that the cuts are facing each other as above then put the rubber over the top, like this
Now I took a small piece of the a broom handle between the two pieces of wood, like this
Now if you clamp the other ends of the wood into the vice it will stretch the rubber outwards and keep clamping it until the rubber stretches enough to get the pump into the cuts that you've previously made. Release the vice and it should clamp over the top of the facet pump holding it in place nicely. Then just pull the bits of wood out gently and then rubber sits nicely on top of the pump. Well it did for me anyways.
Hopefully this will help if anybody is having trouble. No heating just a bit of stretching but its summer () so the rubber is warm. Hopefully the rubber wont split (don't blame me if it does). Mine didn't and it fitted with a lot less swearing.
Hope it helps.
Marc
